Excellent food. Love that they are gluten free friendly. My only complaint is that their seafood does taste a little funny at times.

They have about half a dozen items on their Sunday brunch menu, but we really came for the bloodies and waited till 11am for their lunch menu so we could order their blackened fish tacos. Super tasty!

I promised myself that I would never write a negative yelp review. Unfortunately, the service I received here was so horrible that I have no choice. The bartender who's "dad owns the restaurant" gives the worst service I have ever seen in my eight plus years in the industry.

I honestly did not have high hopes for this place. It seemed too gimmicky. But, against my better judgment (and because it was after 9pm), I came here for a bite. This place was much better than expected. Live music...and it was a good band, lots of space and the Chicken Poblano Melt was delicious! With a name like Island Grill, I expected to see more island food, but there wasn't too much of it. None the less, the burger I had was solid. Stop by if you are in the neighborhood.

Second time here. Seem to have good prices and good food. Mostly locals. Fish tacos are their specialty. No complaints here. Live bands on the weekend.

Original Fort Collins yummy. Sunday is kids eat free and 60 cent wings! The atmosphere is like jimmy Buffett fun and we always have fun here. Give the blackened mahi tacos a try, the fried pickles, and the burgers are some of the best in town. Service is great, prices are right, and it feels like your favorite bar!

Always friendly service. The best thing on the menu do far is their salad and Philly cheese steak. With one Philly and 2 salads is plenty of food for 2 people. The fort Collins location is the best! Always really fresh food!

Ok The food is not bad at all and what I expected for bar food but the service is horrible. Had to flag down a server who ignored us over and over when we wanted to leave. We had been there for 2 hours so it's not like we acted rushed for our check. She never checked on us after she brought our food which took over 30 minutes to get. Eventually got up and left.

I live very close to the island grill and was excited to try it. The first time we went, I had the chicken quesadilla. The chicken had no flavor and at one point I bit into a piece of chicken gristle that was so big it made me gag and completely lose my appetite so I didn't eat any more of the quesadilla. I've been a server and if I were serving in a slow restaurant (it was by no means busy) and I saw a patron ate less than 25% of their food before being done and refused a togo box, I would at least inquire if everything had been ok. Our server didn't seem to care and just brought us our check. I thought maybe it was just a bad day, maybe it was because I ordered a quesadilla at a place called island grill but I assumed it was a one time bad dining experience and was determined to give it a second chance. We went again and I got the pulled pork sandwich, as did my husband. As soon as he bit into it he said "does that taste bad to you?" So this time I knew it wasn't just me. My husband is a garbage disposal for food who devours anything so for him to say something is bad, it has to be bad. It had the distinct taste of pulled pork that had been refrigerated and then microwaved, the onion rings we got were quite greasy and soggy. The food here is terrible- worse than Applebee's or Chilis but comparibly priced. The only reason I give Island Grill 2 stars is because it's not a bad place to walk over and have a beer on the patio as long as you don't eat anything.

Fish tacos and covered outside seating is all you need to know......any deviation from this combo will dramatically lower the rating. P.S. Fish Tacos

The owner was kind enough to listen to my feedback and work to make things better. Excellent business acumen!

BEST QUESO IN TOWN HANDS DOWN. The food is solid and good! I've had many items here, never disappointed. Great drinks, great staff, great atmosphere, great music nights, great fish tank, great patrons.

Are the people of Fort Collins mental? Have you ever eaten fish tacos before? This place sucks. This is the WORST place I've been to in FoCO and I'm pissed! Sat at the bar with a friend after work. Took four minutes to get our drink order. Another two to get our drinks. Bartender didn't offer us menus. He wasn't friendly and honestly he was kind of a dick. We ordered the "best fish tacos in town." What a joke. Flour tortillas from Walmart. The cabbage slaw was about 90% of the taco. Maybe a tablespoon of measly fish. The guy gave us no napkins or silverware. To top if off he screws up the bill. How!? Two drinks and an order of fish tacos for one person!! How do you screw that up? Oh the best part he charged me twice! And who charges $4 for a well single!? Are you kidding me? This ain't a hotel! This place is a joke. It's another beach bar in a strip mall. Shit I would've rather eaten Taco Bell than eat here. To those yelpers who raved about their fish tacos, go get your taste buds checked out. I think all that weed is going to your head.

One of my favorite places to go. In the summer the patio is perfect for grabbing a beer and some lunch. On Saturdays grab dinner music and mules. The blackened fish tacos are my favorite. good for friends kids and family.

This place has pretty legit key lime pie and the service was friendly and fast. The booths are a little bit broken down and the decor is a crappy attempt to be ocean and surf related but the food is pretty delicious with large portions. It does have a bar with drink specials etc. but the crowd that goes here for the social bar aspect is a little bit older so it's not really a booty shaking atmosphere. It is still a cool place and super close to where I live so that's a plus.

Island Grill is our local neighborhood hang out, and we love the atmosphere. We moved into the neighborhood about 4 years ago, and were looking for a place to grab a beer, get some barfood, etc. We're so glad that we found the great staff at Island Grill, who greet us every time by name. Best of all, we feel comfortable taking our 20 month old there, as all of the staff care about her well-being. The food ain't bad either, ranging from burgers to fish tacos to jambalaya to salads, there's plenty on the menu, even for kids. Excellent beer selection as well! We'll keep on going to the Island, and you should to!

Good food, can't complain. The indoor decor kind of bums me out (mostly the booths). They have a patio, so that's nice!

Ew-crappy service. Bad food. Surprised they're still open. They could have something WAY better in this location.

I don't have anything bad to say about this place! The staff is always friendly the owner is present and often makes sure everyone is enjoying their experience. I have had everything from the fish tacos, to the pasta, to their burger. I have yet to be disappointed. Their salads are huge and packed with some really great things. Ahi is done well, always a pleasant surprise as we are in colorado! Bar service is always great as well! Would recommend for dinner or just drinks!

Island Grill has awesome fish tacos, burritos and salads. The service is friendly and attentive. And I love their outdoor patio in the summer. It's a great neighborhood hangout for Midtown Fort Collins.

Nice place for a beer. Came for first time in afternoon. Attentive staff. Music at nice level to enjoy and still have conversation.

I'm giving this 5 stars because it isn't often you find a bar that happens to serve wonderful seafood creations and amazing $3.00 microbrews. Surprised to see they are only at 3 stars. My sister and her husband go here often when they are in the mood for fish tacos. I had the grilled shrimp tacos and they were perfection. We had a table on the patio and enjoyed the experience immensely. Service was attentive, but not fussy. I'll make a point to go back on another visit with my sister.

We love, love, LOVE this place! Best fish tacos anywhere... period! We've even been to Maui Tacos in Hawaii, which purportedly has the "best" fish tacos, and they don't even come close. We come in every Monday for "Taco Monday"! I'm proud to be a regular of the Island Grill... and we will keep coming back for more!

Food was good. We got the fried pickles for an appetizer and they were tasty! Dinner was good and the server was nice. The only bad thing was the people that stared at us for five minutes when we first walked in. It was like we walked into the wrong territory!

  • Rob S.

I love this place. My favorite is the fish n chips. Yum! I haven't had a bad meal here. We love the casual atmosphere and how much open space there is. Our kids love the fish tank and the video arcade games. We will always come back here. Oh, the staff is always friendly, prompt and professional.

Stranded in the middle of a shopping center, Island Grill is another tropical- beach -themed- bar in a town that is swimming in them. We found ourselves drifting by on a Sunday afternoon for the recommended brunch buffet. Atmosphere: The décor inside is what you would expect from a place called "Island Grill"- times ten. Every wall has some kind of mural with trees, animals, surfboards and other tropical beach-like elements. Service: The hostess at the front door greeted us with a smile and the service was good and friendly at the bar where we sat. Drinks: Island Grill has a fully stocked bar and enough local and domestic taps to keep your whistle wet. Friends and other reviews mention the bloody mary's being cheap and good, so we thought we should try them out. Let's just say at $2 ,cheap was right but good is questionable. Food: The menu is what you would expect from another tropical- beach- theme -bar , with burgers, tacos, sandwiches and appetizers in the $7 to $10 range. We opted for the brunch on this visit, which is their version of a buffet. The food was just OK, and not worth $10, unless you go back for thirds.

Perfectly serviceable neighborhood bar/restaurant. The food is not exceptional but it is decent and I enjoyed my meal. The covered part of the patio is great during those afternoon summer showers. The waitstaff is an issue. They are not rude, just kind of 'off.' They seem distracted and distant. I don't need my server to fawn over me, but I would like it if they acted like they were listening to my order.

The first snowfall in Fort Collins enveloped the city in a white, icy cold embrace last week. It's much too early for this. I'm not ready to hole up in the house and get stir crazy half way through the winter season. Even though I love Fort Collins, I love Colorado, I do not love the snow. I have such a great fondness for summer to be excited about the season change. While our world here changes to a palette of gray and white, there's always a little corner of sun, bright hues and Caribbean flair at Island Grill. Our dinner was adequate, just like the other times I've been. I think this is a place you go for the atmosphere more than the food though (just like The Rio). I think it's a fun spot, the service is great and they have a lot of entertaining things going on, like Karaoke on Wednesday nights and live music on Friday and Saturday nights. They have a great Sunday Breakfast Buffet too. If you come out for a fun night, their drinks are worth it. I particularly enjoy their hurricanes (Castillo and Myers Rums, pineapple and orange juice with grenadine and a Bacardi 151 float). So, when we get hit with more arctic weather and you think you're coming down with a case of the winter blues, the Island Grill is a unique spot for a paradise escape, even if it is artificial.

I sooooo wanted to like Island Grill but it was not meant to be. The first time I went there the service was horrible beyond belief! We got seated right away and given glasses of water to drink but no one came to take our order and we waited a very long time. Not only that a bunch of the wait staff was standing around joking with each other or busy serving the few people that were there. We left. I decided to give them another chance and the service was much better but I was not impressed with the salsa and chips on a spice level, much too plain. the tacos I wanted to like but that did not happen either. I don't know what else to say other than don't go there if you want an authentic Mexican food fix.

I was curious about the Island Grill. I've heard about it for several years. My mom and her friends all adore this place. They always lunch here with their "birthday club." Mom finally admitted they go here because the young waiters flirt with them and give them free shots when its someones birthday. I probably should have taken that as a bad sign. My partner and I decided to give the Island Grill a try. We showed up for dinner around 8. The bar was active, but we wanted to sit at a real table and relax so we headed to the restaurant side where it took the hostess a couple of minutes to notice us. We were seated, and drinks arrived quickly, but the service was only OK. The waitress didn't show up often, and when J only ate a third of his cheeseburger, she didn't bother to ask if there was something wrong with it. (there was) I ordered the Singapore chicken salad which, besides being drowned in dressing, was passable. The "hot and sour noodles" on the salad turned out to be spaghetti dressed with some salad dressing. The chicken was well cooked, but bland. When I think of island cuisine, I think lots of spice and flavor. The ingredients of the salad were totally overwhelmed by the ginger sesame dressing. Everything was fresh, but I expected better for $9.50. My partner ordered a burger, and had it cooked medium-well. The burger was burned and had hard black bits of grill residue stuck to it which gave it a bad, randomly crunchy, texture. Between the lackluster service and the "meh" food, I don't expect we'll rush back any time soon. Maybe we would have enjoyed it more had we been doing shots with a group of grandmothers...

I have eaten here several times, and I can honestly say that I do not find anything wrong with this place. Their lunch/dinner is great....but I really go there for their Sunday brunch. I absolutely love it, and I crave it! All the food is really hot and fresh. They have a great selection. It's so great. If you haven't tried it, you HAVE TO GO!

About 6 weeks ago, we had a bad experience with a take-out order. I sent an e-mail to the restaurant and described our experience, and got a nice reply from the owner, apologizing and offering a $25 dollar gift card - No sign of the gift card, and we're still a bit off our feed when it comes to ahi tuna salads. Update: The gift card arrived today, along with a nice note from the owner apologising for not sending it sooner, as well as for the experience that led to all of this. Okay, anybody can have an off night, and I guess we caught one, but at least these guys are making attempt to make it right. We'll give them another shot

I've mainly had the fish tacos with mango salsa the few times I've been here and they're quite good. Flavorful with lots of fresh veggies piled on. The black beans and rice sides are generous too. I can't speak for the other dishes, but there's definitely not too much salt in the fish tacos.

Great food, great bar, and cool staff. I go there rather often and enjoy myself every time. Recent expansion has really given the place a lift, it is packed on the weekend nights and evenings now. Even on weekdays, there is quite a crowd in there having fun. Great place to go to if you are not in the mood for Old Town, the atmosphere is chill and always friendly. Recently, they have added live music on the weekend and the place gets really swinging now. Finally, they have great grub on the regular menu but make time to come for Sunday brunch. They have an amazing brunch buffet that goes for a good price, has all the yummy stuff and of course it is all you can stuff in your gut.

This place has all the makings to be good - but isn't. Hamburger was over done and just didn't taste good. Service was so-so. Even thou this place is close to where I live, I will not go back. Too bad.

The best fish tacos in town.

  • Pat S.

Before I relate my latest experience allow me to agree with JR W., the fish tacos are the best in town. Always tasty and the mango salsa is delicious. Now the bad news, we went in last night, April 4th, to check out the band and have a couple beers. One of the things I like about the Island Grill is that there's never a cover charge when they have bands. Unfortunately this is negated by the fact that unless you sit at the bar you can't get ANY service. We first settled into a couple chairs near the bar right next to the fish tank. Several wait staff walked by but not one asked if we needed anything. This went on for 10 mins. or so. OK, fine, let's move over near the band and see if we can get waited on there. So we sit down one booth away from the band, along the wall, and try to catch a servers eye. Nothing, and I mean NOTHING! Several times it looked like a waiter/waitress was coming our way and then they'd suddenly take a left. A male waiter took care of a 6 top right in front of us and we thought he might acknowledge our presence, you know, be with you in a second.............nope. We were completely ignored. And they weren't really busy, there were quite a few tables still available. We sat through 6 or 7 songs and finally had enough and went over to Jackson's on Harmony Rd. All the same beers that the Island has and we were waited on in under 3 minutes. And they were packed with Final Four fans. I will think twice before trying the Island Grill again. Good food does not make up for lousy service.

Pricey for what comes across as a blue-collar joint. You'd think they'd be importing truckloads of Corona and not need to charge $4.50 each. Always well stocked with dudebros. Worst bathroom layout I've ever seen: wangs become entangled if utilizing both urinals is attempted. Which is alright if you've just bonded at the bar discussing bitches and guns. It's exactly what you'd expect from an island-themed resto-bar in middle America. Their quesadillas taste good, but so does every quesadilla ever made anywhere. I do applaud the lack of napkins at tables, clearly intended to start a conversation about wastefulness.

  • Benny J.

I'm not much for salads but I come over 30 miles for the salad here and it's just the side salad. Some of the freshest ingredients ever. It even smells good when they bring it to your table. The philly steak and cheese is fantastic!! This sandwich with a side of fries and the salad is more then enough for one person. Couple that with some local brews and you have a phenomenal place for food and drink. Have to admit I don't deviate much from the food I mentioned but when you find something this good why would you. Great service tv's everywhere, live bands, video games for the kids, salt water fish tank....man this place is just about perfect.
